Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

The Yellowknife Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is dedicated to assisting the local association of Jehovah's Witnesses in carrying out their religious objective of preaching the good news of God's Kingdom. We promote public religious worship designed to uplift Jehovah's Witnesses and all who attend our public meetings through moral and spiritual instruction based on God's Word, the Bible. Our mission is to help people understand the Bible's message, live according to God's teachings, and prepare for the fulfillment of God's promises.

Our Vision

We envision a community where individuals and families find hope, purpose, and spiritual strength through a deep understanding of the Bible. We strive to be a beacon of faith in Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories, demonstrating Christian love through our actions and helping people develop a personal relationship with Jehovah God. Our vision extends beyond our local congregation to support the global preaching work, reaching people of all nations with the life-changing message of the Bible.

Our History in Yellowknife

The Yellowknife Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses has been serving the spiritual needs of the community in Canada's North for many years. Our congregation is part of a worldwide organization of Jehovah's Witnesses, with millions of members in over 240 lands who share the same beliefs and dedication to Bible education.

Despite the unique challenges of operating in the Northwest Territories—including extreme weather conditions and geographic isolation—our congregation has remained steadfast in its commitment to spreading the good news. We have witnessed tremendous growth in Bible knowledge and spiritual maturity among our members and those we teach.

Our Kingdom Hall serves as a center for worship, Bible education, and Christian fellowship. Here, people from diverse backgrounds come together united by their love for Jehovah God and their desire to live according to Bible principles. We continue to expand our ministry work throughout Yellowknife and surrounding areas, offering free Bible studies and inviting all to join us in worship.

Our Core Values

Bible-Based Truth

We base all our beliefs and practices on the Bible, which we accept as God's inspired Word. We encourage everyone to verify our teachings by examining the Scriptures personally.

Christian Love

We demonstrate love for God and neighbor through our actions. This includes showing compassion, providing practical help, and treating all people with dignity and respect.

Political Neutrality

Following Jesus' example, we remain neutral in political affairs and do not participate in military service. We respect governmental authority while maintaining our allegiance to God's Kingdom.

Unity & Fellowship

We maintain a pure Christian community through Bible-based standards and loving discipline. Our congregation provides a supportive environment for spiritual growth and encouragement.

Our Leadership Structure

Body of Elders

Our congregation is overseen by a body of elders—spiritually mature men who shepherd the congregation with love and care. These elders are appointed based on their exemplary Christian conduct, deep Bible knowledge, and ability to teach. They provide spiritual guidance, conduct meetings, and offer pastoral care to congregation members.

Ministerial Servants

Ministerial servants assist the elders in caring for the congregation's practical needs. They handle various responsibilities including literature distribution, meeting arrangements, and supporting the preaching work. Like elders, they are appointed based on their spiritual qualifications and willing service.

Connection to Global Organization

Our congregation is part of a worldwide brotherhood of Jehovah's Witnesses. We receive spiritual direction and support from the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, who provide Bible-based guidance through publications, meetings, and conventions. We also work closely with the Canada branch office and our circuit overseer, who visits regularly to provide encouragement and training. Learn more at JW.org.
